Baby Announcement

Here is the completely-unstaged film of when we announced it to the family. Kind of embarrasing, but kind of funny and very loveable!

I just discovered that my brother was filming, so this is his copy. I'm getting scared because I can't find the clip I filmed on my computer!

Happy 1st Birthday!

Ok, so I sometimes scare myself (and often my husband) with how much I like to plan ahead. Sometimes it can be good, other times I wonder about myself. In PARTICULAR with gifts. It is January 26th and I have nearly all the gifts bought for the nieces/nephews 2011 birthdays AND Christmas. I was even contemplating buying a 1st birthday gift for the nephew who is expected to be born next week.

Today I maybe have gone overboard, but those green stickers with "3-for-2" just called too loudly! Since I have become an auntie, I have become aware of the prices of toys and which are 'good' (aka: cool) toys. A favorite of mine is a Baby Born (a doll). I know they run around 50 euros. Today I saw one on sale for 20 (which already got me excited), but when I saw it was buy 3 sale-priced toys for the price of 2, I HAD to buy it. I don't know for who, but I bought it, plus some Playmobile (again I don't know for who, but it NEVER goes on sale).

I decided 'if' it's a girl *fingers crossed*, this will be her 1st birthday gift. If not...some niece will be thrilled or I'll sell it for profit. How cute is that? It has Noah's ark! (maybe if it's a boy, he'll get this :P)

Can someone tell me I'm not totally crazy, but I'm thrilled, because I got 95 euros worth of toys for 35! (wait till hubby hears LOL)

I will choose to take the comment, "Why are you wearing pregnancy clothes?" as a compliment :) The obvious answer is just too obvious, so it MUST mean that I don't look as fat as I feel!

Wardrobe Thoughts

Many of my skirts are beginning not to zip, but I am not ready to wear maternity yet. I plan to gather all clothes from my SIL's this week, so I can evaluate what I will have and 'if' I need to get anything, since here it is the sale period and time to buy. I am not expecting that I will need much, but you never know.

I am planning at 4 months (in 2 weeks) to do a closet overhaul. I'll see which skirts might work or I can use with belly bands (and if I have the matching colors), then put away the rest until hopefully next winter.
A friend found this awesome site yesterday. I can't justify spending the money on one of these skirts, but I am thinking I can make my own! I've made a bubble skirt before, so it seems that I should just be able to put stretchy fabric instead of a waistband. I will consult my seamstress SIL.http://www.boutique-mamma.nl Starting on page 5 of the outlet, there are some affordable skirts that I might be interested in ;-)

Boo Boo Bunny

I love this Boo Boo Bunny that I received. I think I love the name as much as the item! There is a plastic thing with water that you freeze, so when there's a 'boo boo,' it's not as painful as an ice cube, plus it's adorably wrapped up, so hopefully the child doesn't feel it as much.

With the matching rattle...
Did I say that I got a new camera for my birthday? I was/am soooo excited! I had said we MUST get a new one before the baby, so I think it ended up being another combined birthday gift for us. The hubby has actually done all the experimenting so far (He took these pics for me)...

Sick Day

Today is the sickest I have felt my whole pregnancy. I'm not convinced it's only from the baby. I think the lingering cold and jetlag are contributing. I have been on the couch most of the day and as a result I did a bit of online shopping. I have a few things I'm trying to decide on on oldnavy.com, but this skirt I bought 2nd hand from a lady online for 2 euros! I love it and hope it isn't too short when I pick it up.

Motherhood Perks

When I bought this skirt at Motherhood Maternity, the woman enrolled me in their program. I was not enthusiastic, because I figured I won't get to use most of the coupons anyways, but what I got REALLY excited about was the $20 Shutterfly gift card that I was able to use ASAP. So if anyone is pregnant and joins the club and isn't interested in the gift card, LET ME KNOW :D

13 Week Photo

The hubby says the baby looks like me when I was that age ;-)

13 week appointment + weight gain

I am just *slightly* annoyed. Not only was I at the hospital (simple appointment and bloodwork) for 2.5 hours, but the doctor said my amount of weigh gain is 'unacceptable' and that was after the nurse already had chided me about it. I already had been feeling sensative about it, but people are telling me 'eat for 2' and I say that it doesn't work that way and felt that I haven't been overboard, but I did know that I had a 'few extras' during the holidays, but still didn't feel it deserved this response.

Apparently I have gained 3.5 kilos in 5 weeks (but I'm sure I weighed without boots last time and today I had them on!)...but without being pregnant, I gained that much when I visited home last summer :S

Whatever! Thankfully I was already aware of this issue and today was Day 1 of my 'diet' and I joined babyfit.com (the pregnancy site for sparkpeople.com). Day 1 was good and I had 10 glasses of water, which is one of my daily goals. My other goals are to exercise more, eat less sugar and have 2 fruits/day.

I'm going to find a pregnancy yoga class and I guess at 25 weeks I am sent to some pregnancy gymnastics. My goal is to not gain anything until after my next appointment (Feb 7).

In other news, everything is looking good and I had another ultrasound. It looks like a BABY now!

Expected The Middle of July

On November 15th I found out I was pregant! Yay! I was very excited, but felt fine, so I did not really believe it. I went to my first appointment on December 8th and was thrilled to see/hear the heartbeat and get the 'baby's first photos.'

We were able to keep the news to be a Christmas surprise for my family and saved it to tell in person for when we got back here, so as of about 5 hours ago, it's finally common knowledge!

This blog is gonna be the baby blog, so if you aren't interested in the baby and whatever strange, obsessive things I may post, be advised not to read it, but the point is to not 'clutter' up my other blog with all the possibly-seemingly-boring-for-other-people details.
